All turns to ashes in the palm of my mouth.
Spilling from between reddened lips
embers descend, forming carpets of sin.
Souls of my feet, impervious to evil’s burn,
writhe atop stilleto heels. I dance.
Lucifer casting me out on an arm.
Blinding ecstacy runs through veins,
flooding eyes darkly rimmed,
brimming with memories of night.
Truth’s strains don’t suit: a ringing in my ears.
Bloodred toes trodden upon, lose their way,
recoiling into his grasp, stumbling–stretch.
Suffocating safety of sorts.
